News broke earlier today that Justin Carmical, known by many as “Jew Wario”, committed suicide in his home last Thursday. There aren't many details surrounding the incident, though his widow, Jenny Valentine, stated in a Facebook post that she had been with him in their home when it happened.

Born in 1971, Justin Carmical rose to popularity with his “You Can Play This” series, which focused on his love for importing games, an interest he had since obtaining an NES in 1989. He since made an impact in the Let's Play scene and appeared as a guest in videos produced by others at Channel Awesome. He was also featured in a starring role as his JewWario persona in the three That Guy With the Glasses anniversary films. His openness and likeability made him popular with fans long after his decision to leave TGWTG early last year.

Child actress Mara Wilson, known for her role as the titular character in Matilda, along with several other films, was one of the many who responded to Justin's passing, commenting on how kind a person he was before urging those who are struggling to seek help. His former colleagues at Channel Awesome, including Noah “Spoony” Antwiler and Lewis “Linkara” Lovhaug, have also offered their condolences, saying how fantastic a person he was. It is clear from the initial response that Mr. Carmical will be sorely missed. We offer our most sincere condolences to his family, friends and fans.
