ISOSCELES, a Bordeaux-inspired red wine and flagship bottle of JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery, celebrates an important milestone this year, the 25th release of a dream. Over 30 years ago, Justin Baldwin settled on the calcareous soils of west Paso Robles and worked to produce a world-class wine in the style of Château Margeaux. Baldwin’s mission was to make wines that “belong in the company of the finest wines in the world”, and after a quarter century, it seems that this red blend has achieved iconic status. ISOSCELES has earned numerous accolades and occupies a spot on many distinguished restaurant wine lists. This complex Central California wine makes any event festive, from the privacy of home to state events at the White House.
Inspired by the famous wines of Bordeaux, ISOSCELES is an elegant blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Crafted from the best of JUSTIN Vineyards fruit, and blended artfully each year to maximize the best of the harvest, this wine is aged for almost two years in French oak barriques deep in the caves at the vineyard. While delicious and drinkable upon release, it’s depth and complexity will evolve for many years, much like the Grand Vins of the great châteaux of France.
The 2011 vintage is aromatic and full-bodied, with black cherry, black currant and red berry fruit, laced with licorice, cola, vanilla, and chocolate accents, accented with smoky cedar and cinnamon spice notes, and framed with firm, plush tannins that will melt into a smooth bouquet over time. It is a food-friendly wine, sure to please with beef, game, and even roast chicken, or savored by the glass.
ISOSCELES can be found at local wine shops or through JUSTIN Winery, either online or the tasting room. There is an added bonus to purchasing wine directly through JUSTIN, if you join their wine club and become a member of JUSTIN Wine Society, ISOSCELES is discounted 20% and even included in their annual wine shipments.
