UT announced this evening that star sophomore receiver, Justin Hunter, will miss the remainder of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Hunter suffered the injury in the 1st quarter of Saturday’s loss at Florida when he landed awkwardly after making a reception.
Hunter appeared to be on his way to exceptional season before his season-ending injury. He had made 17 receptions for 314 yards and 2 TD’s on the season.
Hunter’s absence will create additional playing time and pressure for sophomore receivers Da’Rick Rogers, Matt Milton, junior Zach Rogers and freshman DeAnthony Arnett.
Da’Rick Rogers caught 5 passes for 62 yards, while Zach Rogers caught 2 passes for 34 yards against the Gators.
Arnett stepped up nicely in his first outing as a Vol, catching 8 passes for 59 yards. Milton also nabbed his first career reception.
Clearly, Tennessee will miss the superstar caliber of play that Justin Hunter brought to the field. But, QB Tyler Bray continues to establish himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, if not the nation. The remaining receivers are also young, but very talented and capable.
GO VOLS!!!
