Justin Edwards’ debut at lightweight did not go as planned for the Mansfield, Ohio native.

Edwards took on fellow “TUF 13” cast mate Ramsey Nijem on the undercard at UFC Fight 35 in Duluth, Ga. The fight aired live on FOX Sports 1 on Wednesday night.

After surviving a deep guillotine choke in the second round, Nijem mixed up his striking with his ground game to out point Edwards in a three-round unanimous decision win. The judges scored the fight 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.

Edwards pushed forward the whole fight looking to land the big shot but Nijem was able to land the more accurate strikes and take Edwards down. According to Fight Metric, Nijem out landed Edwards 75 to 26 in total strikes.

With the win, Nijem moves his record to 8-4 and ends to his two fight losing streak.

With the loss, Edwards drops to 8-4 and has now lost three out of his last four.
