Pop star Justin Bieber, 20, caught a break in his Jan. 23 DUI case which in addition to the DUI charge also included charges of resisting arrest and driving with an expired license after he was pulled over and then arrested by police in Miami-Dade, Florida, while allegedly taking part in an illegal drag race in a rented, yellow Lamborghini through the streets of Miami Beach. Bieber’s lawyers will be in court on Aug. 13 where the legal team is expected to plead guilty on their client’s behalf to only the lesser charges of careless driving and resisting an officer, while the Sunshine State drops the DUI charge as part of a plea arrangement, according “two people directly involved in the case,” and reported by ABC News.

Bieber’s lawyer and representatives refused to confirm the plea arrangement that is supposed to go down in court today, although his lawyer “hinted a deal was in the works.” According to the two anonymous sources, Bieber would be pleading guilty to only the two misdemeanor charges. Legal strings attached to the plea deal include Bieber agreeing to participate in an anger management course, donating $50,000 to an as of yet unnamed charity, and paying routine court-ordered fines. Reportedly, Bieber won’t be doing any jail time under the plea arrangement.

The two sources with direct knowledge of the case had to remain anonymous “because they were not authorized to comment publicly before a Wednesday court hearing.” The Biebs isn’t expected to physically be in the courtroom today.

After Bieber was taken into custody by the Miami-Dade Police in January, the cops said that other vehicles had blocked off a street in Miami Beach so the pop star could race friend and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff who was driving a Ferrari, according to Yahoo! News. Bieber’s arrest report stated that the singer “cursed at police officers and later told them he had consumed alcohol, marijuana and prescription drugs.” Bieber’s toxicology report confirmed that he had “prescription anti-anxiety medication in his system at the time of the arrest.”

Alcohol breath tests found Bieber's level below the 0.02 limit for underage drivers, but urine tests showed the presence of marijuana and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in his system. Bieber was also charged with resisting arrest after a profanity-laced tirade against police officers, as well as driving on an expired license.

Bieber’s recent bad boy lifestyle escapades include pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of vandalism for egging his neighbor’s house, assaulting a limo driver last December in Toronto, and being sued by a Miami photographer “who says he was roughed up while snapping pictures of the singer outside a recording studio.” Just last month, Bieber reportedly duked it out with actor Orlando Bloom after the Biebs reportedly made an off handed comment about Bloom's ex-wife, Miranda Kerr.
