Can the world of Justin Bieber get any stranger? Apparently so, with the latest on Wednesday regarding the "Cut4Bieber" and "CuttingForBieber" move outed as a hoax of serious proportions.
The hashtags #cutforbieber and #cuttingforbieber were used along with some carefully crafted tweeting sentences like this one, "You stop using drugs and we'll stop cutting," in order to prompt teens and tweens to mutilate their bodies.
It hasn't been confirmed that the teen pop music idol was smoking pot, despite a TMZ photo appearing to show him doing so, but that didn't stop Internet trolls from seeking to capitalize on the news, or to incite young girls to harm themselves as a result according to The Telegraph.
Members of the 4chan.org message board started the hoax, to quote Reality TV Magazine Sheknows.com, who communicated with each other that they should "start a cut yourself for Bieber campaign" by uploading some cutting photos, claim that they had cut themselves because Bieber was smoking dope, and to see if they could motivate young girls to follow in their deplorable footsteps.
Unfortunately, the NY Daily News reports that young girls did "cut4Bieber" as a result. And that Miley Cirus and Paris Jackson were celebrities who came out in vocal opposition against the growing interest in "cuttingforbieber."
Paris Jackson asked Bieber fans, "can we PLEASE stop this #cutforbieber epidemic!! seriously!! it's hurting way too many people..."
As Bieber battles the online cutting hoax, his manager Scooter Braun was busy having an "amazing night" with Psy in ktown.
