We have seen a number of stories over the past year discussing teen pop sensation Justin Bieber's unusual rise to fame -- how he was plucked from obscurity, flown out to Atlanta by Scooter Braun (who later became his manager), and ultimately given a shot thanks to Usher.
However, a new story by Time Magazine presents the story from a whole different angle -- Braun's. In it, the manager first talks about first watching Justin's videos and then the difficulty of signing someone without a history of TV or show business:
"[The video of Justin singing 'Respect'] was such raw talent, my gut just went wild. Maybe I shouldn't tell people I watched videos of Justin Bieber in the middle of the night...[The labels] kept telling me, He's not backed by Disney. He doesn't have a TV show. He's a nobody,"
Even with this disadvantage, however, Justin still found his break and is now one of the most talked-about young stars in America. How is he handling all the fan mail? Justin jokes about it:
"I also try to read all of my fan mail. A lot of them send me candy, which I'm not allowed to eat 'cause my mom says it might be poisonous."
