Justin Bieber hit South by Southwest (SXSW) a day before the Austin festival officially started by giving a surprise concert. According to CBS on March 10, the troubled singer took part in a gig his manager, Scooter Braun, put off called "Sunday Funday Showcase."
Sponsored by Op and Buffalo David Britton, the event was held at Austin's Banger's and Beer Garden, an historical dining venue that serves more than 100 beers on tap and that openly brags about offering the Texas capital's largest sausage selection.
No doubt, this joint was hopping on Sunday when Justin Bieber appeared to sing two tunes. In fact, one source declared, "It is not something you get to see every day — Justin Bieber showing up to a bar in Austin and requesting to take the stage.:
Ben Siegel, owner of Bangers, said via Fox News Austin, "It was a good time. It was a cool performance. The people that came for the event were absolutely thrilled with it. It was sort of a once in a lifetime opportunity for them."
One of the songs Justin Bieber sang called "Boyfriend" was dedicated to the superstar singer's on again, off again girlfriend Selena Gomez, who was watching from the wings. Justin declared before performing this namesake song, "This goes out to my baby girl," referring to Selena.
Others luminaries on hand when Justin Bieber showed up for his alternative South by Southwest performance were Cody Simpson, on a break from practicing for "Dancing with the Stars" 2014, and The Wanted, among other huge acts.
