Justin Bieber’s mother Pattie Malette appeared on NBC’s Today show this morning where she spoke about her son’s on again off again relationship with Selena Gomez. Pattie seemed to say Justin’s split from Selena was a mistake, according to Hollywood Life today. Meanwhile the rumor circulating this week that Bieber, 18, hooked up with 24 year-old Rihanna two years ago, is being repeatedly shot down.
“You know, I just try and support whatever he’s wanting”, Justin’s mom Pattie told host Savannah Guthrie. “I think she’s [Selena] a sweetheart, and whatever they decide is great”.
Pattie, 37, then said it’s, “tough letting go and letting our kids make the mistakes they need to make”, as they get older. She added that she hopes Justin will “learn from my mistakes” as he gets older.
So it would seem what she’s saying in a round about way, is that she thinks Justin letting 20 year-old actress Selena Gomez go is a mistake.
Meanwhile, sources are shooting down the crazy Rihanna hookup rumor, perhaps because of how outrageous it really is. “Life & Style” magazine ran a story recently that suggested a sexual affair between Justin Bieber and Rihanna back in 2011 was the root cause of his breakup with Selena.
A source close to Rihanna told Hollywood Life that “hell no”, she never hooked up with Bieber. “It’s crazy that people think this could be true. They are just friends. Selena looks at Justin like a little brother and she gives him advice. They’ve partied together but have never hooked up. This is crazy”, the source said.
Tabloid watchdog Gossip Cop pointed out that Justin Bieber is the same age as Rihanna’s little brother, and the pair’s relationship has never been anything other than a platonic friendship.
The site checked with a source close to Rihanna, who laughed off the “Life & Style” story, telling them that it’s totally false. Not that we really needed confirmation, absurd as the thought of it is.
