Justin Bieber stopped by Los Angeles radio station POWER 106 for an interview to promote his new music earlier this week, and while on site, the pop star spoke about his relationship with fellow star Selena Gomez.
Although Justin is typically pretty private when it comes to his love life, he didn't hold back while talking to Big Boy, and even went as far as to admit that he still loves Selena.
"I wrote the best music once my heart was broken," he explained to Big Boy, according to a December 18 report by E! News. "‘All That Matters' was written when I was in a great place in my relationship, and at that time, she was all that mattered in my life."
The "she" Justin is referring to is, of course, Selena, whom he dated for two years before splitting just under a year ago.
"[The break up] affected us, especially when we are in front of so many people," Justin admitted. "It's such a public thing. It's just hard for the both of us. But you know, she's a great woman. I love her till this day."
Even after their messy split following a New Year's getaway, Justin and Selena kept in touch and during the summer spent what some would call a lot of time together. In one instance, the two were even spotted -- and photographed -- getting cozy at a pool party in Los Angeles. Weeks later, Justin made a surprise appearance at Selena's birthday party.
Although many thought the pair would eventually get back together, a reconciliation isn't going to be happening in the near future and at this point, they aren't even speaking.
"I think we're going to be the greatest of friends," Justin explained. "Right now we're taking a little time and not talking."
As for the buzz about Justin retiring from the music industry, he does appear in a brief clip, saying, "Um, I'm actually retiring, man." However, an E! source tells the site, "Of course it's not true."
His reps, on the other hand, had no comment.
