Justin Bieber, mega-star for the young crowd, may be someone who smokes marijuana. My response, blah. Photos were taken of Bieber smoking pot inside a hotel room, with the rapper Lil Twist, in Newport Beach, CA. I don't know if this is true or not, because I haven't seen any of the supposed photographs. But even if it is true, Bieber would not be uncommon among Americans. Many Americans have smoked marijuana and no, that does not mean they go on to smoke cocaine.
I have a number of close family members who smoke marijuana and that does not cause the Reefer Madness that the government lied to us about for decades. By the way, if you are too young, Reefer Madness was a movie made decades ago that showed marijuana users going nuts off it, in order to scare people about it. Now, I would not necessary recommend marijuana use, as I wouldn't recommend people drink more alcohol, but marijuana compared to alcohol and harder drugs, is pretty benign.
There are numerous actors/actresses who have smoked marijuana. Natalie Portmann smoked pot in college, that college being Harvard by the way. It hasn't ruined her life. Morgan Freeman smoked marijuana, though that might seem a little weird, but if you saw pictures of him from 40 years ago, that make more sense. Justin Timberlake smokes marijuana, if you are very young he was Justin Bieber before there was Justin Bieber, but just a bit more talented.
There are numerous organizations that are working to support the rights of Americans not to be raided in the dark of night by SWAT teams looking for their stash of pot. This happens quite a lot by the way. There is the Marijuana Policy Project, DRCnet, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws or NORML. I wish those actors and actresses who smoke marijuana would be more active in supporting legalization of marijuana. The time is ripe.
