New reports indicate that Justin Bieber was apparently thinking about himself during a stop at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The superstar seemed to be clueless as he wrote a self-promoting blurb in the guestbook of this historical museum, according to many reports including one from The Telegraph on April 14.
So what was message?
"Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a Belieber."
To even go there about this brave Holocaust victim seems extremely naive if not downright dumb, but perhaps this teen just hasn't had enough education to really understand the gravity of his statement.
Still, a post on the official Anne Frank House Facebook page indicates Bieber was at the Amsterdam museum on August 12 "with his friends and guards. Fans were waiting outside to see a glimpse of him. He stayed more than an hour in the museum."
After writing what he did, the blogosphere went ballistic, agog with disgust as Justin did his best to "associate himself with one of the faces of the Holocaust."
To be clear, the Anne Frank House in what was occupied Holland during World War II is a shrine to the brave girl who kept a diary of the atrocities of life at that time in this very edifice.
That said, this historical place is much more than a museum. It is a way to for all people, even Justin Bieber, to become educated about what happened in those dark days during the last century while never forgetting Anne's experiences of the horrific and yes, unspeakable, holocaust, while living in this century.
And so, while many celebrities besides Justin Bieber have visited the Anne Frank House, including Sharon Stone, Stephen Spielberg, Lenny Kravitz, and Natalie Portman, to name a few, none made quite the impact that this teen idol from North America did when he went to the historical spot in Amersterdam. Thank goodness.
