The Television Critics Association tour yesterday announced that the hit series "Bones" will likely end after its 10th season, and The Hollywood Reporter announced on Jan. 14 that FX Networks came out today and clarified when the "Justified" final season will air.

According to FX Networks CEO John Landgraf, the "Justified" final season will be its sixth. In an interesting turn of events, it was not the network who called the shots on when the series would come to a close.

According to Landgraf, show runner Graham Yost and star Timothy Olyphant made the decision to end the series with the sixth season. According to the CEO, "Justified" is one of his favorite TV shows and he would have liked to see more of it, but reluctantly accepted the duo's decision.

It is a case where a popular televisions series will get to end on its own terms. According to Landgraf, the decision was made because the arc of the series' plot was better served by finishing it off in six seasons rather than stretching it into seven seasons. Another FX show, "Sons of Anarchy" faced the same decision when they announced their final season as well.

FX Networks emphasized that they decide on the length of their series based on the creative side and never worry about financials when it comes to extending or ending a television series, a nice change from networks that allow fans to get invested in a show only to kill it before its time.
