Justice Coalition's 2010 Ride for Justice: honoring America's heroes and victims

Ride for Justice.
Ride for Justice.

For over 15 years, the Justice Coalition continues to serve the Jacksonville and Northeast Florida areas by providing crisis intervention and advocacy for victims of violent crimes. Consequently, it's not a surprise to learn that it's carrying on this legacy by honoring our country's heroes and victims. And what better day to do this than on the anniversary of 9/11 when America had garnered so many heroes and victims within just a few hours.

On Saturday, September 11, the Justice Coalition conducts its 2010 Ride for Justice. This event is a 50-mile scenic, police-escorted motorcycle ride through the wooded countryside of Jacksonville. Participating will be the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) SWAT team with its van, Community Affairs and Dive Team with its 40-foot boat. The Jacksonville Jaguars cheerleaders, otherwise known as 'The ROAR', will greet fans and sign autographs.

Community members can become involved in this event with sponsorship opportunities that provide recognition and promotional opportunities for businesses. The Justice Coalition is also accepting items for the silent auction as well as cash donations. As a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization, all contributions are tax deductible.

If you just love to ride, this is a wonderful occasion to both have fun and help your community. The cost for a day's excursion is $25 for each rider and $10 for each passenger. The ride will start at River City Marketplace located at 13141 City Station Drive. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with 'Kickstands Up' at 10:30.

The ride concludes at Old Plank Road Baptist Church located at 8964 Old Plank Road, where a delicious lunch will be served, complete with creamy Blue Bell ice-cream. The cost of this meal is included in the participation fees. However, if you're not a rider or passenger but would like to join the after-ride festivities, $15 will buy lunch, a t-shirt, a raffle ticket and a goody bag.

Justice Coalition Executive Director Ann Dugger said, 'I feel that it's important to remember those whose lives were taken on 9/11 and to remember our heroes who gave their lives to ensure our safety and to remember the innocent victims who have suffered from violent crimes within our city.'

Hello Sherri, I just subscribed to your articles. This was wonderful and a great tribute. People standing together - if they can do this for one day they should be able to carry it over to the next and the one after that. Thanks for sharing.
Ms. V. is a smart and caring lady, she is patient...we all have to struggle through all these changes together.
