"No more!" she exclaimed as she tossed her phone onto her bed, "there is no more, absolutely nothing more, period, the end". She knew he was seeing other women and didn't care before, but lately she detected a tint of jealousy that was lurching to bloom. "Not good" she warned herself, "this is not good".
She disengaged entirely and refrained from seeing Gaby again. The less she saw him, the less she thought about him and the farther they drifted apart.
Eva was not angry; on the contrary, she was very much at peace with herself. As she laid on her chaise by the bay window of her condo overlooking Miami Beach, she gazed into the sky and her thoughts drifted along with the stretches of wind-blown clouds.
She smiled. “That’s fine” she thought to herself, “there is someone else out there waiting for me”.
Gaby was everything she wanted in a man, but completely not what she was looking for. She understood clearly that a person’s nature can not be changed and she would not be foolish to attempt.
Completely respected and accepted their differences, she drew a clean line and called for the ending to a momentary experience that stretched over a course of nine months.
As soon as the decision was made, she became immune to his ever so thoughtful text messages.
It was just sex. Purely physical and nothing more than an incredibly beautiful experience that had to end.
She had not forgotten Gaby in many ways. Thoughts of him put smiles on her face – radiant smiles of triumph over sweet temptations.
She believed in meaningful and monogamous relationships; physically, mentally and emotionally for one, and will never again settle for anyone less than whom she deserved.
Relationships do not have to be complicated. It was of vital importance to establish expectations right from the beginning and not any time after. Eva and Gaby did not seek the same level of involvement, longevity of the relationship was highly doubtful from the beginning.
Simply ask : "what are you looking for?"... right from the beginning and not at the end.
Eva and Gaby, incredibly right yet awfully wrong, they were just not meant to be.
