The restaurant world is abuzz today April 4, 2014, as the British newspaper, The Independent, has released the winners of Elite Traveler magazine's 100 Top Restaurants in the World. For the third straight year, the top restaurant in the world is in the United States (Chicago), Grant Achatz's famed Alinea.
On the international front, France placed eighteen restaurants on the list and the United Kingdom placed twelve. The star, however, of this years awards is Chef Heston Blumenthal. The man was not only named as Chef of the Year, but two of his restaurants also made the esteemed list.
For those restaurant fans in the United States, aside from having the number one restaurant, the number two was also American and was won by New York's DANIEL, run by the internationally renown Chef Daniel Boulud.
As opposed to the other years these awards have been handed out, this year there were sixteen new entries from around the world.
