Trace Adkins was undergoing rehabilitation for alcohol abuse when he received word that his father was near the end of his life, CMT reported on February 3. Trace Adkins’ father, Aaron Adkins passed away on February 1. The cause of death was undisclosed.
In mid-January, Trace Adkins had entered alcohol rehab after getting into an altercation aboard the cruise ship on which he was scheduled to perform along with Montgomery Gentry, Wynonna, Craig Morgan and Neal McCoy. The concerts were part of the Country Cruising series.
Trace Adkins has been battling alcoholism for over a decade, but had been in control of the problem until recently. Grieving the death of his father will likely add more stress to an already stressful situation. It’s unknown whether Trace Adkins will return to rehab after the funeral on February 5, but hopefully Trace Adkins will receive any counseling that he may need to get through this challenging time.
