There was a question in a comment thread about Beatles CD sales last year. We don't have the figures through the end of the year, but for anyone who wants to know, here's how the Beatles remastered CDs and box sets sold from 9/9/09 through Dec. 6, according to SoundScan:

For the person who asked about counting up the totals of albums sold if the albums from the two box sets were included by title, here it is (as of December 6th):
Please Please Me 224,272
With The Beatles 218,188
A Hard Day's Night 244,028
Beatles For Sale 215,156
Help! 257,351
Rubber Soul 311,425
Revolver 289,163
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 362,639
Magical Mystery Tour 246,864
The Beatles White Album 354,235
Yellow Submarine 159,024
Abbey Road 384,784
Let It Be 211,163
We'll put down the Past Masters discs and Mono Masters disc totals as well from the number sold per box set. (Obviously, more were sold of the two stereo P.M. discs, but didn't see the numbers in Steve's post.)
Past Masters 1 - 112,564
Past Masters 2 - 112,564
Mono Masters 38,219
[to be continued]

The grand total of the above individual albums is 3,741,639. If individual sales of the hit-packed Past Masters sets were factored in, the total would almost certainly exceed the four million mark (to say nothing of the other Beatles CDs sold over the same period, especially the continuously popular 'Beatles 1' CD.) That's one million per Fab over that time frame! Not a bad bit of sales for them and the industry...
Mono Masters - 38,219 - Hmmm, what happened to a limited edition of 10,000?
Steve: Soundscan, as is well known, counts the sale of a CD or box set as one unit, even if the CD is a double, like The White Album, or a box set, like the Stereo Box. If one calculates the actual sales, like the RIAA does, using your numbers above, the sales total 4,469,164. Soundscan's number is 1,894,737. That is a significant difference. If one uses the real numbers, the it would appear that the Fabs actually outsold Eminem in the 2000's.
Dear Quarryman, perhaps you have overlooked Steve's mention of "Past Masters 111,184", which, taken together with the sale of the Stereo Box set, the figure for each of Past Masters 1 and 2 stands at 223,748.

I see these ads pop up on some sites advertising having the Stereo Box Set for under 90 bucks? Is anyone familiar with these sites? Or are these cheap imitations and not the real deal?
Steve,
Thanks for providing the remastered CD sales information. To better put things into context, here's the same information sorted by sales counts, from highest to lowest.
