Tiny little black and adorable Ashley should be clumsily romping around the yard; chasing tennis balls and chewing on dog toys. What shouldn't be is the three-month-old black Labrador retriever puppy looking so terrified and alone - sitting in a caged kennel at the busy, high kill San Bernardino City Animal Shelter.

Ashley was picked up as a stray on August 31, and she will be available for adoption on September 6, but puppies don't fare well at shelters; they often get sick with upper respiratory infections because their tiny little bodies have not built up any natural immunities at such an early age. Furthermore there seems to be ticks on her tiny body which can only mean further health issues for one so very young.
Click here for Ashley's Facebook page as volunteers and humane advocates share her story to find an approved rescue organization or an individual able to provide this little one with a safe home. It's a heartbreaking thought to even have to even consider that a beautiful puppy like this may never have the opportunity to become a part of a wonderful family.
