Jurassic Park 4 dated for June 13, 2014

Universal Pictures has finally confirmed the release date for Jurassic Park 4, which will hit theaters on June 13, 2014.

The film will be produced by Steven Spielberg (and Frank Marshall), who directed the first two films, before handing off the duties to Joe Johnston. According to the studio, the film still does not have a director nor a cast, but Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are writing the script. It will also be shot and released in 3D, while the original movie, which has been converted into 3D, will be re-released in theaters on April 5 (including in IMAX 3D for one week).

The third film was released in 2001 and the franchise, which is based on Michael Crichton's novel, also spawned a ride at Universal Studio Hollywood (which is really fun, by the way).

Moviegoers will have plenty to look forward to during the 2014 summer, with the final Hobbit movie being released, as well as a new Spider Man, Planet of the Apes and Transformers will also compete for movie screens.
