That's right everyone's favorite dinosaur park is making a return to the silver screen on June 13, 2014 according to Universal Pictures' Twitter.
It will mark the first time the famous dinosaur franchise has been to the silver screen since Jurassic Park 3 came out in July of 2001. This follows the recent news that the original will follow the growing trend of being remastered and rereleased in 3D this April.
Spielberg who has just picked up 12 Oscar nominations including one for best picture will be producing the upcoming dinosaur flick, which he directed the initial installment of the franchise 20 years ago. The announcement came shortly after news that Spielberg has put Robopocalypse on the back burner (we now know what for).
The original Jurassic Park has grossed almost a billion dollars (which will soon break the $1 billion dollar mark with the 3D rerelease) and held the record for the highest grossing movie for years until James Cameron’s Titanic beat it. The franchise has grossed over $1.9 billion collectively.
This new film will be shot in 3D. The script is being penned by Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. No director is yet attached to the new film, but some guesses such as J.J. Abrams or Rupert Wyatt have spawned from Forbes with others being speculated around the web.
