I don’t know why I didn’t think of Jupiter, Neptune and this year’s flu outbreak while writing my last article. But it’s just as well. It rates a whole separate comment. You could call it Stationary Jupiter Part Two. Every time I go out these days I meet someone who says they had the flu. They ask if I got my flu shot. The flu is the favorite topic. New Jersey is one of the hardest hit states. I look at Facebook and many people are posting that they are home sick. Their boyfriends are sick and cranky and either way everyone is miserable. What are you taking? What is your soup recipe? I’m sick of being sick.
Neptune rules germs (little critters you can’t see), contagious illness and by extension staying home by yourself to recover. Neptune rules the 12th house, the natural house of Pisces, which includes retreat, recuperation, solitude, quarantine and hospitals. And the 12th house is the polar opposite of the 6th house, which rules health. The flu is sneaky. You never know whom you got it from. Neptune is sneaky too. If you have adverse aspects to Neptune especially from the Moon you may have a weak immune system. You catch everything that’s going around. You are more susceptible to the flu, colds, allergies, infections, stomach viruses, childhood illnesses like chicken pox and so on. The colder months are considered flu season but you can just as easily get sick during the warmer months too. There is nothing worse than a summer cold.
I’ve been lucky. I have Uranus square Neptune like everyone else in my generation but I also have good aspects to my Sun that indicate good health. Once I got a swine flu shot during the 1970’s because everyone was in a panic but I haven’t had a shot since. I just don’t bother. I don’t worry about it. I don’t get sick unless I’m under prolonged severe stress. For many years I went to work and everyone around me would be suffering and coughing. And I wouldn’t catch the bug. Then one winter I got sick with a cold three times. I was visiting my aging mother during that season. I was very tired and depressed. That was four years ago. She passed away and I haven’t been sick since.
Jupiter stationing in a square to Neptune is increasing the number of flu cases. This is what happens under Jupiter. Whatever manifests is expanded and it isn’t always for the greater good. If Jupiter is just sitting there he expands things even more so. (During the year I was sick three times Jupiter although not retrograde was in my 12th house square my Neptune.) Neptune in Pisces for the next several years may indicate higher numbers of flu cases, more dangerous strains of viruses, contaminated water systems, food poisoning and possibly biological weapons. But we will also learn more about the human immune system, inoculations, drugs, diet and healthy lifestyles. Hospitals and hospice care centers will become more humane. Anyhow Jupiter is about to go direct so this flu outbreak will go through its cycle, peak in mid-February and ease up by spring. I am a little ahead of schedule but specifically you should note that Jupiter goes direct January 30 and Mars enters Pisces February 2.
You can get a flu shot or not. Eat right, get enough rest, exercise and fresh air and most of all try to think positive. Try to keep the stress in your life to a minimum.
