With greenmarket season just getting underway, the Abacoa greenmarket in Jupiter got a jump on most other municipalities and opened today. The heat and early-morning rain put a bit of a damper on crowd and vendor numbers, but there's literally hope for more of both. There's still plenty of room for more vendors, and lots of parking for locals who want to find out what's available.
Right now, choices are a bit slim, with Holland's Produce, Big Lock Barbecue, Rooney's Gastropub, JC's Daily Bread and a few other food vendors offering Philly cheesesteaks, lemonade, hot dogs, donuts and fresh juices. There are craft vendors, live music, a large play area for children, and several brick-and-mortar restaurants for refuge from the weather.
South Florida tends to get its market mojo on as the weather gets cooler and the visitors and part-time residents return. If you want more information on Abacoa's market, as a shopper or a vendor, you can contact Reggie at (561) 307-4944.
The Abacoa Greenmarket operates Saturdays through April from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the amphitheater, 1200 Town Center Drive, Jupiter.
