Juno Awards heading to Hamilton in 2015

The Juno Awards will return to Hamilton, ON in 2015 after 14 years.

According to a media release posted Jan. 9 at JunoAwards.ca, the 2015 Juno Week celebrations will be held in Hamilton from March 9-15, 2015, culminating with the 44th annual Juno Awards ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, March 15 at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum.

"Bringing the Juno Awards back to Hamilton offers the opportunity to further support and develop the city and province’s vibrant music scene," said Melanie Berry, president and CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences/The Juno Awards, in a release statement.

Hamilton last hosted the awards in 2001.

The 2014 Junos will be held in Winnipeg, MB from March 24-30 with the awards ceremony scheduled to air live on CTV Sunday, March 30 from Winnipeg’s MTS Centre.

Performers, nominees and presenter information is TBA.

The Juno Awards are presented annually to Canadian musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music. New members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame are also inducted as part of the awards ceremonies.

Did you know? The Juno Awards were last held in Winnipeg in 2005, when iconic hometown hero Neil Young, who was scheduled to appear, was forced to cancel due to a life threatening brain aneurysm.
