Junior Brown coming to the Neighborhood Theatre April 14th
Junior Brown

Charlotte, NC – Put on your ten-gallon hat and pull on your boots, Junior Brown is returning for his eighth appearance at Neighborhood Theatre on Saturday, April 14. See with your own eyes, the guitar Junior himself invented - one that combines the standard 6-string guitar and the steel guitar - the “guit-steel”. General admission tickets are $20 and Gold Circle tickets are $30. Doors open at 7 PM and the show starts at 8 PM. Gold Circle is a reserved assigned seat in the first 5 rows.

Junior Brown is not your stereotypical country singer. His sound is a little bit country and a little but rock ‘n’ roll. He is also an instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer. Known for his traditional country and Hawaiian steel styles, few of his performances finish without some blues playing and surf instrumentals. Brown is familiar with country music naysayers, but he is not intimidated by them: “Just about the time they label me as some old time honkytonk singer, I throw something new in there that surprises them. And then they'll appreciate the traditional styles of country music too. Do something to wow them without ruining the roots of country and they end up accepting the music that they would have been prejudiced against.”

Big in the 90s, Junior’s talents have led major magazines like Musician to herald him as a genius. Life honored him as the only contemporary musician included in their “All Time Country Band,” and Guitar Player magazine's 1994 “Best of...” listings made him their #1 lap steel player, #2 Country Artist, and #3 country album (Guit With It). Brown’s career is not over, however, his 2005 Live at the Continental Club: Austin Experience is a fan favorite because it captures his originality and authenticity that can only be experienced in person.

Brown's music has been showcased on various TV shows and movie soundtracks, including Me, Myself and Irene, SpongeBob SquarePants, and the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard remake, in which he also played the narrator.

Always a Neighborhood Theatre favorite, we are pleased to welcome Junior Brown back again on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
