Junebug Media: zombies attack wedding on That Special Day

The events of the photoshoot entitled "That Special Day" can only be described as "celebratory chaos," and wearing zombie makeup can only be described as "sticky."  Or so the zombies who got to experience David Mendez' makeup skills had to say.  Apparently, "sticky" is a synonym for "looks like a real, undead zombie."

David Mendez was but one of several professionals working for Junebug Media's "That Special Day," a photo shoot (with video elements as well) about a wedding that goes truly bad.  As this previous article reports, these nuptials first go south when the groom is caught getting personal with the maid of honor, but go so much farther south when zombies end up dropping by for some much-needed brains.  Headed by the multi-talented Brandie June Chernow, the production team included photographer Damon Brown, vidoegrapher Ray McCoy, coordinator Craig Johnson, assistant Megan Trimble, bridal makeup & hair by Diana Deiny, and of course, David Mendez' zombie effects makeup.  The cast was made up of actors and models -- both amateur and experienced -- as well as long-time zombie fans and locals.  For several of the attendants, it was a big surprise that there was extensive amounts of video footage, and a healthy-dose of ad-libbing for it, which allowed the cast to bond quickly and amped up the fun at what otherwise could have been a grueling day-long photo shoot.  Everyone seemed to walk away proud of their work, grateful for the amazing production values on a shoe-string budget, and glad to be a part of the experience.

The proud couple...not long before undead arrive.

Aside from getting press from NBC Los Angeles, Topie Winn of C T Scan Hollywood and PaidtobeNice.com stopped in to to catch some photos of lurking zombie kids and interview cast and crew for an upcoming webcast (keep your eyes on this page for more info).  Although unrelated to "That Special Day," you can catch some of the cast in random skits and conversation right here on YouTube.

With something in excess of 2,000 still photos to go through and easily over an hour of video footage to edit, "That Special Day" is in the process of becoming a piece of multimedia art that Junebug Media hopes to show at places such as the Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk.
