June is National Hunger Awareness Month

Shelters and food banks need commodites to help meet demands this summer. Summer months can also be brutal for homeless families and children without food. Although the snow is melted away, spending the night in hunger is never easy.

June is National Hunger Awareness Month. With June 2010 approaching, it is not too early to be a "good neighbor" to persons in need in your community.

Here are a few links to share with your family, youth and community groups this summer to help plan your service projects to fight hunger and be a "good neighbor."

When your community service group makes a great effort to be a good neighbor, post a comment for the Des Moines Homelessness Examiner. Share what has worked for your community.
