Ryan Murphy's Golden Globe and Emmy-winning drama series on FX comes to an end in Nip/Tuck: The Sixth and Final Season. After seven years, the series ended with its 100th episode. The series chronicles the McNamara/Troy practice's interpersonal relationships and its series of provocative, morally questionnable and bizarre surgeries. In the final season, plastic surgeons Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) are financially strapped due to the economic downturn and welcome chick magnet Dr. Mike Hamoui (Mario Lopez) into McNamara/Troy to help drum up some business. To make matters worse, Liz Cruz (Roma Maffia) is trying to take Christian to the cleaners in their bitter divorce proceedings. Kimber (Kelly Carlson) is having financial troubles with her sex toy line as well. She becomes an esthetician and later an interior decorator. Both Sean and Christian get personally involved with her, leading to disastrous outcomes for all.
Meanwhile, Matt McNamara (John Hensley) has decided to try out miming, but soon finds it has other more profitable yet precarious uses. Ultimately, his life ends up dependent upon the liposuction of an obese Death Row inmate awaiting execution. Matt's mother and Sean's ex-wife, Julia McNamara (Joely Richardson), return back to Los Angeles. Her mother, Dr. Erica Noughton (Vanessa Redgrave) follows suit with her new European husband Renaldo Panettiere (Gilles Marini). Erica wants the custody of her grandchildren, Annie (Kelsey Batelaan) and Conor, but is later convinced otherwise. Julia has moved on with her life and eventually asks Sean for custody of their children. Ava Moore (Famke Janssen) returns with her adopted son Raphael and seeks McNamara/Troy to fix his face. He is suffering from Post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis. Old feelings with Matt reignite just as he is about to marry Ramona (Melonie Diaz). Matt finds himself in a predicament that promises to result in at least one broken heart.
Throughout the season, the pre-existing tension between Sean and Christian increasingly builds, sending them to psychotherapy for a resolution. When they reveal long-kept secrets, their bond becomes more tenuous. Adding plastic surgery's dying future, McNamara/Troy may be forced to close its doors for good.
