Set in 2028, multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robotic technology. Their drones have already been deployed overseas by the military for years -- making the company billions. Despite their repeated attempts to bring the controversial technology to the homefront, it has been met with much public resistance, as embodied by the Dreyfus Act. When upstanding police detective and devoted family man Alex Murphy is grievously injured while trying to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit, OmniCorp CEO Raymond Sellars sees the perfect opportunity to sway the robo-phobic public to overturn the Dreyfus Act and make OmniCorp even more billions. Recruiting top scientist Dennett Norton to transform Murphy into the ultimate half-man, half-machine crimefighter, OmniCorp envisions a future where there is a RoboCop in every city. Back on the streets, the altered Murphy (hardwired for law enforcement sans human emotion) is welcomed with open arms by the citizens of the crime-ridden city. However, soon the suppressed mind and memories of the man inside the machine longs to take over and seek justice against the criminals who nearly killed him -- leading to catastrophic results.

DVD and Blu-ray special features include deleted scenes and trailers. Exclusive to Blu-ray are the “RoboCop: Engineered for the 21st Century” three-part featurette and Omnicorp Product Announcement.
