June 2014 weather update

The month is half over as we head toward the first day of summer later this week. So far this month we’ve definitely turned the corner form the brutal cold that we experienced last winter and spring.

Despite a few brief chilly days the month has been a warm one so far. The low temperatures for the month are a bit above average. The average low temperature is 56.13° which is 0.55° above average. The high temperatures are certainly warmer than normal. The average high is 78.07° which is 1.16° above average. The average temperature for the month, which includes both the highs and lows, is 67.10° which is 0.85° above average.

The June precipitation is slightly below average. Grand Rapids observed 1.30 inches, which is 0.63 inches below average.

The observed sunshine is close to the average with 64.7% of possible sunshine.

The rest of the month could be warm and soggy especially with the potential for heavy rain this week
