When in Rome is a romantic comedy about ambitious New Yorker Elizabeth "Beth" Martin (Kristen Bell) who is a workaholic and has a great career, but falls short in the love department. While in Rome to attend the wedding of her younger sister Joan (Alexis Dziena), she thinks she has one last chance at love when she meets Nicholas "Nick" Beamon (Josh Duhamel). However, it is short-lived when she sees him kissing another woman. Feeling defeated, she gets drunk and picks up five coins from the fountain of love, without knowing the fountain's legend.
Back in New York, she is suddenly pursued by five men who have all fallen in love with her: sausage king Al Russo (Danny DeVito), street magician Lance (Jon Heder), Italian painter Antonio (Will Arnett), self-absorbed model Gale (Dax Shepard), and Nick. Confused, Joan explains to her that the fountain's legend is the coins' owners will fall in love with whoever takes the coins and the only way to break it is to return the coins back to the fountain or to the rightful owner. Balancing her boss Celeste's (Anjelica Huston) demands and her secretary Stacey's (Kate Micucci) antics, Beth manages to return each coin to its owner. However, will she be able to let Nick go and risk losing her one possible chance at love?
