It seems like just yesterday we watched on the big screen 'Sabrina Watson' (Paula Patton) and Jason Taylor (Laz Alonzo) try to form a union between not only the two of them but between both of their families. The 2011 film showed an upscale uptown family trying to get along and understand the customs and values of a middle-class "downtown" family and embrace the nuptial exchange and 'jumping the broom' of their loved ones, and according to Shadow and Act on Monday March 10, 'Jumping the Broom 2' has been given green light to start production.

Reports say that both productions companies that worked on the first film will resume their positions for the sequel. Our Stories Films and TD Jakes Productions will be working alongside Elizabeth Hunter, the writer for the original 2011 film and also rejoining the production team is Tracey Edmonds, ex-wife of singer-songwriter Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds.

The sequel will consist of the same plot, two families who meet for the wedding of their loved ones but who are completely different in lifestyles. Unlike the original where the wedding took place on Martha's Vineyard, this wedding day bliss will occur in the city that never sleeps, New York City.

No word as of yet as to whether or not any of the original cast members will be featured in the sequel or if the new characters have any connection to the old characters at all. But we do know that the original film was a nice love story and hopefully the sequel will be just as romantic.
