July’s Ipsy bag review: My last Ipsy bag

Although Ipsy bags are very reasonably priced ($10 a month, free shipping) and come with mostly full size products, I can’t say I’m still a fan. Lately, I have been receiving products that I’ll either never use, or probably never use. And I get it, Ipsy can’t satisfy every subscriber all the time, but it’s been around 4-5 months for me. That’s $40-$50 that could have gone towards other makeup I’ve wanted to check out.

This month, I received four items (never before have I received under 5 items): mascara, tanning oil, a hair product, and a mini sample size of cream eye shadow. I have plenty of mascaras (PurMinerals), in fact, there are at least 2 waiting for me to try them right now.

Tanning oil (Hang Ten)? Not for me, thanks. I’ll never use this. Same with the hair product (Marrakesh Endz), unless my hair is really-really damaged, I usually just stick to a good shampoo product that helps my hair.

Lastly, a bareMinerals cream eye shadow. I don’t really wear eye shadow unless it’s somewhere important – yeah, I’m pretty lazy when it comes to putting on makeup. This one looks interesting though, I put it on my hand to check out the color and it still hasn’t come off! And I scrubbed pretty hard. The cream shadow claims to prime, brighten, smooth, protect, and be long-lasting.

I’ll miss receiving the Ipsy makeup bags though (they come with every monthly goodies), but I just no longer get excited when they come in the mail. I realized it had to end when I found an Ipsy bag from a month or two ago that I never even opened, and another that I did open but never used any of the items.

What I do love is getting things in the mail though! So I’ll be on the hunt for a new monthly bag! Maybe makeup, maybe treats, maybe a fun box…
