Join Chaminade Resort & Spa’s second Farm to Table Wine Dinner on Friday, July 11, 2014. Enjoy a five-course dinner with local, farm fresh ingredients prepared by Executive Chef Kirsten Ponza and team.

Taste the superb wines from Kathryn Kennedy Winery. Last season, diners were treated to the winery’s Blanc de Blanc sparkler and several red wines, including a rare 2003 Estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Saratoga.

Visit with featured farmers from Coke Farm, Black Hen Farm and Ostrich Growers of Watsonville. USDA nutritional stats about ostrich meat affirms that it is lower in calories, fat and cholesterol than beef, chicken or turkey, and is higher in protein and iron.

Unsurpassed views from the terrace

These seasonal dinners offer a feast of the senses not only for fresh, local ingredients elegantly presented, but for the jaw-dropping view.

Dinners take place on the Sunset or Courtyard Terrace, boasting sweeping views of the Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey Bay. A wine reception along with passed hors d’oeuvres takes place at 6:00 p.m. followed by a full dinner at 6:30. Guests are seated at beautifully set tables designed to invite lively conversations.

In a recent Huff Post Food for Thought blog by Lois Alter Mark, Chef Kirsten Ponza said, “Even though the concept is old, this way of eating is still so new for many people. It was once the way everyone had to live because we didn't have the trucks and planes to deliver every week. Your food should not be sitting on a flat bed truck for a week while trying to get to your local giant food store. At the very least, it shouldn't have to travel more than a hundred miles to get to your plate!”
