Have you ever thought of buying a log home? The month of July offers an opportunity to hear and see the benefits of owning a log home; the National Association of Home Builders Log Homes Council celebrate their third “National Log Home Open House” event throughout the month of July. They will be hosting home tours, log raising demonstrations, factory tours, seminars and much more. Potential home-buyers will learn the benefits of owning a log home, the process, and building techniques that go into making a log home energy efficient.

Today's log homes have come a long way from the original one, two room American log home made from stacked tree trunks or hand hewed tree timbers. Thanks to today's technology log homes are designed with computer assistance and can be built to suit any lifestyle, budget and aesthetic sensibility. Modern technology provides energy efficiency, logs used are solid and uninterrupted, coupled with the modern sealant materials and building techniques.

Logs absorb heat energy, according to numerous scientific studies, during the day and radiate it at night to even out the temperature, keeping the home owners at a satisfying comfort level. This allows the home owner to enjoy less energy usage, saving them money over the life time of the home. “National Log Home” month events will enlighten potential home-buyers on the wide range of ways they can stay “green” when designing their dream log home with the use of passive solar energy, the right selection of wood, the proper layout plan for rooms to reduce noise, and the proper preservation and maintenance of a log home.

During the month of July, all home-buyers and builders are invited to celebrate “National Log Home” month by attending the National Association of Home Builders Log Homes Council special events and factory tours across the United States.
