The Royal Sonesta Boston Hotel’s Summer Fest package is the official kickoff to July 4th and summer. Visit the hotel during its Summer Fest days (Thursdays – Sundays until Labor Day) and you will not only get luxurious accommodations, and great dining also included are several outdoor activities; complimentary bikes and river cruises, spectacular outdoor and indoor pools, and free ice cream every afternoon. The free ice cream alone makes me want to spend a weekend here.

Your Summer Fest Sonesta package is a great deal whether you’re a couple alone or toting the kids along; two children under 18 stay free in their parents’ rooms, and kids 12 and younger eat free at the ArtBar Restaurant when one adult orders an entrée. Rates begin at $160 per night per family for a two night stay, $189 for a one night stay.

Leave your car at home as the hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to downtown Boston and also to Cambridge. And, is a 10-minute walk from public transportation.

In the morning you can peddle along the shores of the Charles River and the Esplanade, spend the afternoon soaking up some history walking Boston’s Freedom Trail or roaming through eclectic Harvard Square. Cap off the day with a sunset cruise on the river in one of the Charles River Boat company's river boats.

The Royal Sonesta’s prime location along the Charles River and the stellar views it offers of the Boston and Cambridge skylines will draw you outdoors. If rain keeps you inside you won’t be bored, the Royal Sonesta has a to-die-for art collection, ask at the front desk for a complimentary self-guide tour book of it. In the collection are works by artists such as Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, and Buckminster Fuller. That being said, check it out even if it doesn’t rain, it’s worth it.

And, don’t forget the free ice cream every afternoon.
