Crestline hosts some of the best family-centered events for the July 4 weekend. Jamboree Days begin with the community picnic on Friday July 4, featuring booths hosted by a variety of vendors offering food, drink and souvenirs, as well as exhibits from local organizations such as Lioness, Rotary and Rim of the World Historical Society. This event is free and open to the public, and parking beside scenic Lake Gregory is free.

Volunteers host games for children, with some of the most fascinating heirloom games. Children can park toy cars, go fishing for plastic fish, knock down pins with a spinning top, and more. The best part is that every child wins a prize. Game tickets can be purchased near the gate, and the price is usually 25 cents per game.

At noon local residents dressed in costumes of the Revolutionary period present a show on the grass field that some call the ball field. The local bagpipers march across the field while playing their bagpipes, and a small group demonstrate muskets, firing blanks. In addition, veterans are honored and speeches are made.

The picnic is only the beginning of the 51st annual Jamboree Days celebration. The parade, street fair and fireworks show on Saturday July 5 are brought to you by the Crestline/Lake Gregory Chamber of Commerce. This mountain community on the way to Lake Arrowhead rolls out the welcome mat for visitors from all over the Southland.
