July 4 Atlanta firework shows (with MARTA directions)

July 4th in Atlanta features one of the largest and oldest road races along with several large firework shows. Crowds and traffic are usually dense during these events, and MARTA provides a car-free option to getting to and from venues.

Here are the top MARTA accessible firework shows if you are looking for some night flare on the 4th.

1. Lenox
Exit at either the Buckhead or Lenox station on the north-south rail line to reach the Lenox show. From Lenox, just exit straight out of the station onto Lenox Road, which is right in the heart of firework display. From Buckhead, take the first set of stairs out of the station to street level and turn left onto Peachtree Road.

2. Centennial Olympic Park
In the heart of downtown, the Centennial Olympic Park firework show reflects off the glass skyscrapers and water features in the park. There are also free festivities all day long.

If coming from the north/south rail line, exit at the Peachtree Center station and at street level take any side street off of Peachtree west to the park. Most directly, take the Harris Street exit out of the station and follow the signs to Peachtree Street West after exiting the fare gates. At street level keep to the right to walk along Peachtree Street, then turn right on to Andrew Young International Blvd. (Hooters on the corner), which leads straight into the park.

If coming from the east/west rail line, exit at the GWCC/Dome station and follow the signs pointing to Philips Arena. Keep walking straight once you exit the station and go up the escalator and stairs. The park will be about two blocks straight ahead.

3. Downtown Decatur
A family-friendly event with a parade, the Decatur show lasts a few minutes longer than the show at Lenox. From downtown, take the eastbound Indian Creek train to the Decatur station. All exits out of the station will put you in the middle of the July 4th action.

4. Braves Game
Most years the Atlanta Braves have a home game at Turner Fieldwith fireworks after. Sit facing the skyline to also see the downtown Atlanta fireworks. Take any train to the Five Points station and follow the signs for the Braves Shuttle to get to Turner Field, or see these alternate transit directions.

More more information, see MARTA directions to the Peachtree Road Race, which takes place every year on July 4.
