Although it appears that this annual celebrating has taken place for several years with no clear distinction of how it first began, some of us learned of this momentous holiday last week on The Wendy Williams Show when The Cheesecake Factory introduced its newest flavor Lemon Meringue Cheesecake to Wendy and her co-host with samples to commemorate the holiday. Here is something else that you may not have known. Cheesecake has been around since the first Olympic Games in 776 B.C.! Furthermore, one of the most favorite styles of cheesecake, NY Style made with heavy cream cheese, was created accidentally while William Lawrence attempted to recreate an “unripened cheese.”

According to the National Day Calendar, a James Kraft (Kraft Cheese) patented his pasteurized form of cream cheese in the city of Philadelphia in 1928; thus was born “the most commonly used” Philadelphia Cream Cheese. Other styles of Cheesecake noted were the “Cheesecake Kludys” and the “Savory Cheesecake.”

Also this year, The Cheesecake Factory is offering its’ customers a chance to win $4,000 or $1,000 in gift cards during their celebration of the holiday on July 30th and 31st. Desert lovers can also choose from more than 30 flavors from their menu at half the price! The contest is relying on social media to not only grab the demographics of its diners, while relying on them to help the factory advertise. Visit The Cheesecake Factory website for specific details.

Regardless of the most famous or popular style, the classic cheesecake is still a winner. Join in on the festivities. If you prefer to make sure that your creamy cake that is one of the only so called cakes that can be baked or not, is indeed home-made, try the classic recipe shown in the above video.
