Cats & Dogs (2001) is finally released on Blu-ray in celebration of the new film Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, coming to theaters nationwide on July 30, 2010. On each specially marked package, there will be a free Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore movie ticket with a value of up to $7.50.
Unbeknownst to humans, cats and dogs are more than just cuddly adorable pets. They have been at war since the Ancient Egyptian times. The latest conflict involves a serum created by Dr. Brody (Academy Award-nominated Jeff Goldblum) that promises to cure humans of all dog allergies.
Desiring world domination and dog extermination, the white Persian cat Mr. Tinkles (Golden Globe-nominated Sean Hayes) plans to steal the formula and alter it to make humans severely allergic to dogs. A highly technologically advanced secret agency of dogs at Intelligence Headquarters, run by a Mastiff (Academy Award winner Charlton Heston), are in charge of protecting the Brody family and monitoring the cats' activities. Some of the agents include Butch the Anatolian Shepherd Dog (Academy Award-nominated Alec Baldwin), Peek the Chinese Crested Dog (Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano), Sam the Bearded Collie (Academy Award-nominated Michael Clarke Duncan) and Ivy the Saluki (Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon).
When a new pup Lou the Beagle (Golden Globe-nominated Tobey Maguire) is adopted by Mrs. Brody (Golden Globe-nominated Elizabeth Perkins) to join the Brody family, he is recruited to join the secret agency. While he loves the idea of being an agent, he also yearns to be a normal dog to the Brody's son Scott (Alexander Pollock). In a wild adventure, Lou, Butch and the other agents must outwit Mr. Tinkles and his calvary including Mr. Tinkle's sidekick Calico (Emmy-nominated Jon Lovitz), the mercenary Devon Rex cat ninjas (Billy West and Danny Mann), a Russian Blue kitten (Glenn Ficarra) and an army of mice to ensure the safety of the Brody family and the future of dogkind.
