Texas-based country rock band Whiskey Myers will headline at Wooly's in Des Moines on Thursday. The quintet released their third album, entitled Early Morning Shakes, in February. The album has already climbed to #10 on the Country chart, #12 on the Indie chart, and #54 on the Billboard 200. You can check out the band's latest single, "Dogwood", in the nearby video. Glovebox Whiskey will open the show at 9 p.m. Tickets for the show are $10, and the event restricted to those 21 and over.
DG's Tap House in Ames will host their monthly Upstairs Underground hip hop showcase on July 10, starting at 9 p.m. This month's event will feature performances by Glow Mechanics and FDR. Headliner Glow Mechanics, based out of Minneapolis, released their latest album entitled Schmo Mechanics in December. The showcase is a free event, and it is a 21-and-older show.
Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines will host two shows on Thursday. The early show will be a record release party for Des Moines alt-rocker band Grandchamp's new EP Rinse Cycle. Ill Way and Ian Stanley Bennett will open the 6 p.m. show. The event is open to all ages and has a $5 cover charge The nightcap will feature Des Moines indie pop act In Rooms headlining a show with openers Brooks Strause and Rev Gusto. In Rooms debuted their new video for the single "Terraces" on July 3. The video was show in Puerto Rico. The 10 p.m. late show is a 21-and-up event, and it will have a $5 cover charge.
Des Moines multi-genre cover band Fahrenheit will be this week's performer at Music in the Junction. The event will be held at the south end of Fifth Street in West Des Moines' Valley Junction district. The adjacent farmer's market will offer food and beverage options from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the music will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Both the farmer's market and Music in the Junction are free events and open to all ages.
