Julio Jones injury update news is about as bad as it gets. The Atlanta Falcons revealed on Wednesday (Oct. 9) that the injury to Jones brings an end to his 2013 NFL season. According to a report from ESPN, the team has confirmed that the situation with his right foot has ruled him out for the rest of the year. He will have to go through surgery next week and begin a long recovery period.
This is the worst case scenario for fantasy football owners, especially because many people took a risk on selecting him in the first or second rounds of drafts. He has put up good numbers this season, accruing 41 catches for 580 yards and two touchdowns, but he won't be adding to those numbers. In non-keeper leagues it is completely safe to just release him and try to find another player on the waiver wire to try to make up some of the points he would have had.
It has been one ad thing after another for the Atlanta Falcons this season and this Julio Jones injury update isn't going to help matters. Heading into the Week 6 games, the team is at 1-4 and already four games behind the 5-0 New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. The season might already be lost, but there are still 11 games left for Matt Ryan and company to try to make a big run at one of the wild card slots.
