Just weeks away from the 2014 CrossFit Games Open, one of the sport's most popular athletes looks well-positioned for a return to the Women's podium at this year's CrossFit Games.

At one of the sports most competitive events, Julie Foucher placed second at The OC Throwdown competition in Southern California, just miles from the site of the CrossFit Games.

Foucher, who placed second at the 2012 CrossFit Games to then-two time champion Annie Thorisdottir, decided not to compete during the 2013 CrossFit Games season. A medical student, Foucher chose to focus on her studies instead, despite a competitive performance during the CrossFit Games Open.

At the Throwdown, Foucher finished between the top two finishers from the 2013 CrossFit Games - Lindsey Valenzuela, who repeated as the event's champion, and Samantha Briggs, the 2013 CrossFit Games champion. After a year away from visible, top-level competition, Foucher's performance proved that she'll be one of the athletes to watch at this year's CrossFit Games.

Could these three women also finish on the podium together at the 2014 CrossFit Games? The 2014 CrossFit Games Open begins on February 27.
