Rejoice, Hunger Games-lovers! Julianne Moore will be joining the cast of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2” as President Alma Coin, according to Entertainment Weekly on Sept. 13. In this role, we'll see Moore lead the revolution against the Capitol as the president of District 13.
We won't see Moore join Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss on screen until November 2014 and then not again until November of the following year. The dark last book takes a look at what happens when the people of the districts pull together and fight back against the Capitol and President Snow. We'll see Moore reveal a more devious side that we can assume she also pulls out as the mother of Carrie in the 2013 version of Stephen King's classic.
Already confirmed for the films are Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Ashlee Simpson’s boyfriend as Marsella and the regulars to the cast —Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale.
“Catching Fire” will be in theaters on the 22nd of next month, so for fans who are only experiencing this story through the big screen, you’ll get a little more indication of what will await your heros soon.
For fans who are in the know, what do you think of Moore’s casting? With serious dramatic actors like her and Lawrence, we can only imagine what kind of tension they’ll bring to their scenes, so we’re in favor.
