It seems that racial controversy among the TV stars did not end with Paula Deen. This time, the offense happened at a Beverly Hills Halloween Party. Former professional dancer, Julianne Hough, from "Dancing With the Stars" thought she had the perfect Halloween costume for the evening. Little did she know that it would land her in hot racial water.
Julianne dressed as Crazy Eyes from the Netflix drama, “Orange Is the New Black” where Uzo Aduba plays the character Crazy Eyes. Julianne was totally in costume with her face painted black, and her hair knotted on top of her head. She wore an orange jumpsuit and had a prison identification tag around her neck. The rest of her friends also dressed in the orange jumpsuits, complete with prison ward, but Julianne is the only one who seems to be under fire.
After she discovered the backlash that her costume and face-painting caused, she took to Twitter and posted this apology. “I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people, and I truly apologize.”
Julianne's brother, Derek Hough, star of "Dancing With the Stars,” shows his support of his sister when he stated, "She's so, so sorry, and I just hope that we can all forgive her and move on. She's my little baby sister and she's the sweetest thing ever. She is just beyond beside herself. Obviously, it wasn't her brightest moment in her life, but hopefully we can move on."
