Julianne Hough returns to 'Dancing with the Stars' as fourth judge

It is official; Julianne Hough announced her return to “Dancing with the Stars” on "Good Morning America" Thursday. The 26-year-old two-time mirror ball trophy winner will resume her position as ballroom judge joining Carrie Anne Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman.

TMZ speculated earlier this week Julianne Hough would return to DWTS before the ink on her contract was dry. However, insiders told the tabloid the permanent ballroom judge would still pursue her thus-far less than stellar acting career. The actress/singer has appeared in “Burlesque,” the remake of “Footloose,” had an un-credited appearance in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” as a Hogwarts schoolgirl, was in the film version of “Rock of Ages,” starred in “Safe Haven” opposite Josh Duhamel and “Paradise” with Russell Brand. Hough has had greater success in her country music career, which is currently on hold.

Not averse to controversy, (Julianne Hough was blasted for her blackface Halloween costume), the blonde beauty is prepared to tell it like it is as the fourth “Dancing with the Stars” judge, even with her brother Derek. The award-winning ballroom dancer told GMA “I’m known to be a little bit honest and a little bit direct, but I think that’s my role as a judge in this.” Hough went on to say her critiques will not hold any “malicious intent,“ and it is only for the betterment of the star learning ballroom dancing, “I want to see people improved. It’s because I’ve been on the other side, and I do want to be able to give criticism that they can take and learn and grow from.” Let’s hope Julianne can take what she dishes out and not appear with the same angry eyebrows she wore last season when she served as DWTS guest judge.

Season 19 of "Dancing with the Stars" with Julianne Hough as the fourth judge returns to ABC on Monday, September 15. Although the stars have not been announced, returning fan favorite pro dancers Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Witney Carson, Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Derek Hough, Peta Murgatroyd, Emma Slater, and Karina Smirnoff, join newcomers Allison Holker of SYTYCD, Artem Chigvintsev, and Keo Motsepe to light up the ballroom on the DWTS season premiere.
