Julianne Hough wore blackface for her Halloween costume this weekend. On Oct. 26 TMZ, Hough and some gal pals attended the Casamigos Tequila party in Hollywood dressed as characters from the popular show, "Orange is the New Black." Julianne dressed as "Crazy Eyes" with an orange jumpsuit, crazy hair (and eyes), and blackface.
Julianne looked like she just overdid it on the self-tanner but since the character she was dressed up as is black, it's obvious that she was trying to make herself darker in an effort to look like Crazy Eyes. Evidently she didn't think anything of it.
Julianne Hough's blackface has caused quite the stir but a lot of people weren't offended at all. In fact, TMZ conducted a poll that asked readers if they thought Julianne's costume was "funny" or "racist." Sixty percent of voters thought the costume was funny. Even still, Hough chose to apologize insisting she didn't realize that what she did was racist.
"I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize," Julianne wrote on Twitter.
