Julian Lowenthal releases Power Trip-Watch it here!

Out there in the orphan region of the Pioneer Valley nobody makes movies or TV. That’s what everybody in the more favored regions of Nova Anglia believes. Of course, that’s an easy enough supposition because there are well-connected, networked production communities in Eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

And, it’s Wrong. It’s just that the Westerners are doing it in some isolation. A prime example is Julian Lowenthal. Granted, he is working with a few others, but it is not a vast, interconnected society.

Living in the provinces is not a dead end, but resources are not lush. Julian has just finished Power Trip on a micro budget. The video is just over ten minutes, but it is not just ten minutes. There will be several more installments and eventually, it will be an hour and a half movie.

This installment of Power Trip centers around a bracelet that gives the wearer power, but is also a fatal adornment. Julian got the idea from a job he had where he was scammed. The promised salary never materialized and all he ever received for his labor was a bracelet. It is now the iconic Power Trip bracelet.

How bad is the magic in the bracelet? Power Trip is littered with bodies who were killed over it. The actors who survived will be in future episodes and new characters will be added. Death will not be taking a holiday.

After the nine are done, Julian plans to do a screening in collaboration with other filmmakers. He knows Power Trip is not a moneymaker, but will show what he can do.

So how does a film-obsessed fellow support himself? Julian is able to keep body and soul together by freelancing in production. Though his work is a tad wider ranging than he’d like, his goal is to do only movie related work, i.e. TV, video and film.

So what’s next? This summer, Julian has a “big dark epic” on tap with one investor already lined up. Colleen Lyon, Power Trip producer will be on the job as well. Expect more non-stop movement and action. He will be teaming with Ramsey Eassa who was the special effects man and colorist on Power Trip.

Julian will be returning the favor and co-producing Ramsey’s movie, Private Affairs. Colleen will also be part of that team.

So enjoy the video and watch this space. Julian is not stopping.
