Julia Roberts appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, May 7, where Ellen asked her if she had a tattoo. To the surprise of many, she said, "Yes, I have a few." Not one or maybe two, but a few!
Julia Roberts talks tattoos with Ellen
With the announcement, the 46-year old actress turned to the audience and asked, "Aren't you rethinking me completely, now?" The audience laughed, and in perfect Ellen fashion Ellen said, "You're not who I thought you were," drawing more laughs.
Julia Roberts played along and coyly said when asked where the tattoos were. "Some things I can tell you the answer to, and some things I'll tell you later." She went on list a couple of the tattoos she has had inked over the years. "I have all of my children's names, and my husband's initials."
The initials were her first body art and she said, "It was brave or idiotic," because she and her now husband, cameraman Daniel Moder, actually got their initial tattoos before they were married in 2002. Ellen took that information and joked that Julia Roberts had her kids' names tattooed before they were even born, causing the star to laugh more.
Just how many tattoos is a few?
Roberts expertly changed the focus of the interview to her friend George Clooney and his recent engagement so she never did tell viewers about the placement of those tattoos, however, pictures caught back in 2009 when she was on vacation in Hawaii with her family show her tattoo peeking from her green bikini. The tattoo is inked on the small of her back and includes the names of her three kids around an illustration of some sort.
Older reports show Julia Roberts with a Kanji tattoo on her left shoulder which she got back in the days when she was dating Kiefer Sutherland. It consists of a small heart with the Japanese kanji for "strength." Other reports say she has a butterfly tattoo, but as for the placement of her husband's initials…that remains a mystery.
