"Pretty Woman" Julia Roberts has received a terrible blow on the personal front following the untimely death of her half-sister Nancy Motes last Sunday, reports the NY Daily News on Feb 11, 2014.

The 37-year-old Nancy Motes was found dead in a bathtub at her Los Angeles residence. Drug overdose looks to be the most possible cause of Nancy Motes’ sudden death.

The late Nancy Motes is the half-sister of Julia Roberts and Eric Roberts, who is also an actor. The three were born to the same mother Betty Lou.

A statement was given to a popular celebrity Magazine ‘People’ by the Roberts family which says: "It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes ... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose. There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated.”

Julia Roberts, who is nominated for the Oscars in the best supporting actress category for her performance in ‘Osage County’ had pulled out of the Awards luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday to be with her family.

The 46-year-old Julia Roberts could face an awkward moment or two when the press asks her about her dead half-sister during the Oscars which is only three weeks away.

It is learnt that the late Nancy Motes didn’t have the best of relationships with her famous sister. In an interview to the New York Daily News, Motes had talked about how her half-sister Julia Roberts had made many not-so-nice comments about her being obese all through the years. Motes once weighed 300 pounds and had undergone a weight reduction operation in 2010.

Nancy was working as a production assistant in the American TV Series ‘Glee’. The 37-year-old was intending to marry her fiancée John Dilbeck in May according to the Daily News.
